Boston Engagement Photos at Boston Common, Charles River and Back Bay

About a year ago, Anand came from Boston to New York City to propose to Nilam. I had the wonderful opportunity to capture that very special moment. Since that time, I’ve become quite close to Anand, Nilam and their entire family. Now was the time for their official engagement session and since I’ve only been to Boston several times before, it was only fitting for me to go there to photograph their engagement pictures. Going there is refreshing for any artist to get inspired and to see what one can come up with in a creative manner. What I’ve been told and seen was that Boston Common was the place to be.

Of course there are thousands upon thousands of pictures taken there everyday, so being creative and giving them something that was uniquely theirs and theirs alone is definitely challenging. Boston Commons was definitely very beautiful and I could have spent a whole day their just photographing different aspects of the park but we had to move on. We ended up hitting a little spot near the Charles River which had a great rusted underpass. When I saw it, I knew we could get some great edgier shots there. And finally, we finish off at Back Bay on Newbury Street, another great place with tons of restaurants and places to shop. Enjoy!

We began our session at Boston Common, the oldest public park in the United States. The lush greenery and winding pathways provided a serene setting for the couple’s first portraits. As they strolled hand-in-hand beneath the towering trees and paused for tender moments on the picturesque footbridges, the soft morning light cast a dreamy glow over each frame.

From there, we ventured into Back Bay, a neighborhood that effortlessly blends historic charm with modern elegance. The couple danced along the tree-lined streets, framed by stunning brownstone buildings and the grand architecture of Commonwealth Avenue. Each corner of Back Bay offered a new and unique backdrop, allowing me to capture a variety of moods and emotions in every shot.

As the sun began its descent, we made our way to the Charles River for a breathtaking finale. The golden hour painted the sky with hues of pink and orange, reflecting beautifully on the water’s surface. Against this romantic backdrop, the couple shared quiet, intimate moments, with the iconic Boston skyline shimmering in the distance.

I am a little late in posting these engagement photos but better late than never! The engagement session began on one of those New York winter days where the thermometer outside read 20 degrees. However, if you were out walking around instead of nicely tucked in your home, it felt like 3 degrees. You’d definitely need to put your hands together and give it up for Morgan and Brian and their adorable dog, Joey. They were troopers and braved the freezing cold weather and wind. We shot the engagement photos around the American Museum of Natural History, one of my favorite places in the City. Below are some of my favorites.

Studio 450 Wedding and Hotel Ganesvoort Meatpacking Wedding photographed pictures by premiere NYC Wedding Photographers Josh Wong Photography

We finished off 2024 with a wedding that couldn’t have been any better. Erica and Josh’s super chic wedding was absolutely fabulous.

Getting Ready at the Gansevoort Hotel

The bride and her bridesmaids spent the morning in a beautiful suite at the Gansevoort, where the floor-to-ceiling windows let in plenty of natural light—perfect for capturing those intimate getting-ready moments. The bride’s gown was a timeless masterpiece, complemented by elegant winter-inspired details. With laughter, a little champagne, and heartfelt moments with her loved ones, the anticipation built for the big reveal.

Her shoes was by Christian Louboutin and featured a Swarovski crystal heel. Lace and silk covered the remaining parts of her 6 inch heel. Bridesmaids chose their own dresses in off white. They wore brands like Badgley Mischka, Sue Wong, alice + olivia by Stacey Bendet and Nicole Miller.

After everyone finished getting ready, the first look took place on the Gansevoort rooftop before getting whisked away in a vintage taxi to Studio 450, where they were to be wed.  Studio 450 is also a very unique setting. Fashion photo shoots happen here by day but by night, the place gets transformed into a large area which with beautiful up lighting, turns the place into fairyland. The rooms are completely white with glass all around so you get a view of New York City. Erica and Josh’s Winter Wonderland inspired wedding was all put together by the amazing Danielle Bobish of Curtain Up Events. Brides… She’s amazing if you need event coordination/design etc.

The Ceremony & Reception at Studio 450

Studio 450 provided the perfect blank canvas for a stylish winter wedding. The venue’s all-white loft space, flooded with natural light, made for dreamy portraits. The couple exchanged vows in front of a backdrop of glittering city lights as the sun set, creating a magical ambiance.

The reception was an elegant affair, blending classic NYC sophistication with modern charm. Candlelit tables, white floral arrangements, and soft wintery hues set the tone for an intimate yet lively celebration. Guests danced the night away, with the city skyline serving as the ultimate backdrop.

A Night to Remember

This winter wedding at Studio 450 was a perfect example of how a crisp New York evening can add an extra layer of romance to a wedding day. From the luxurious start at the Gansevoort Hotel to the chic, city-lit celebration, every moment was a dream to capture.

Fernanda and Shuan’s Two Day Festive Mexican Hindu Multicultural Wedding – Grand Hyatt and Hotel 999

The first time I met Fernanda was November 2009 when the PR firm she was working for commissioned me to photograph an event for a well-known watch company in Times Square. Ever since then, we always see each other at these bi-annual events they host. I specifically remember one event, where we bonded as I was in need of someone to model a watch for me. The only person available at the time was Fernanda so I asked her if she would like to model for me. She happily obliged. The image I took became one of my all-time favorites. I believe it became one of her favorites as well since she used it for quite awhile as her Facebook profile pic.

We now fast forward 3 and a half years later and many events since then. Fernanda called me to see if I was available to shoot her wedding celebration with Shaun. I wasn’t available, but I knew that she really wanted me to capture her special day. So it took a little massaging of my schedule, but I made it work. When the wedding day came along, both Shaun and Fernanda were all smiles. Their friends and family were amazing and such fun to be around. The first day of festivities took place at Hotel 999 and was essentially a huge Menhdi party complete with a Mariachi Band. The second day started with everyone getting ready at the Grand Hyatt in New Jersey. Their wedding incorporated the traditional hindu ceremony. After the ceremony, Fernanda and Shaun treated everyone with a spectacular concert by the amazing Carte Blanche which performed 20’s and 30’s classic jazz.

San Antonio engagement photos and pictures taken by Josh Wong Photography

When Grace and Kevin invited me to the wild wild west to shoot their engagement photos, I couldn’t wait because it would be my first time in San Antonio, Texas. Anytime I have the opportunity to photograph new places, I’m all over it as it just inspires me to create, create, and create.

My stay in San Antonio was definitely a memorable one. Grace and Kevin, who are getting married later this year in California, are so energetic and fun that taking pictures with them became secondary. Not only were they great subjects, the people of San Antonio were extremely friendly. Their hospitality, generosity, and  kindness are unforgettable. And as expected in Texas, the food portions size were extremely generous. When I ordered a tamale, who knew I would be getting TWELVE of them. But boy, they were delicious. We spent much of the  day at a private ranch called the Dehnisch Ranch, which is a sprawling 3,000 acres. Much of the land around the ranch are only accessible by 4×4 vehicles and ATVs. I wish we could have spent more time there exploring the place as we only scratched the surface of the area. I guess I’ll have to come back!

The second day, Grace and Kevin played the role of a tour guide as we visited 5 different Missions including the “Alamo”. We also visited the famous River Walk which runs through downtown San Antonio. Much of our country’s history lies within these walls and the beauty of the architecture remains, so being able to see it in person and photographing it was amazing. After visiting the sites, Grace and Kevin mentioned that it was a bluebonnet season. So off we went to find fields of them and got some absolutely gorgeous shots. Oh… and we couldn’t leave without trying out the Texas BBQ so we topped off our day at Rudy’s. Thanks again for the good times. I will see you all again back in the Bay Area soon for the wedding. I’m off to NYC. Enjoy!

We can’t forget! Thanks to Gabriel and Sarah for taking us to the ranch, helping us haul equipment, setup, break down, drive and everything in between. You two were as big apart of this experience as any.

Amanda and Eric Engagement Pictures and Montage
Washington DC: The Lincoln Memorial, The Washington Monument, The Mall and the Capitol Building

My trip to the nation’s capital was nothing short of amazing. My beautiful couple, Amanda and Eric, who live in the area, wanted to have their engagement photos taken by the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument, and the Capitol Building. These iconic buildings are what define this great city. Even though I have been to Washington D.C. many times, I am always in awe of the beauty of these structures especially when they are lit up at night.

Our initial goal was to also try to capture the Cherry Blossoms in full bloom by the Tidal Basin but unfortunately we were probably about a week and a half too early. But other than that, this place is quite breathtaking. As for Amanda and Eric, they are such a fun and loving couple. I can’t wait to see them again for their wedding later this year! Oh, and my couples are the best! Somehow Amanda and Eric knew I would love the Red Velvet and Cherry Blossom cupcakes from Georgetown Cupcakes! Thank You! I enjoyed them very much!

Today I has the pleasure of meeting up with Johanna and Gerwin to take their engagement pictures in Central Park. As much as I shoot there, the park is absolutely gorgeous during the fall season so I never get tired of photographing there. The turning of the leaves and the beautiful autumn colors is unrivaled anywhere else. Their wedding however will not be in New York City but will take place in Austria next year. I can’t wait.
