Chelsea Factory Wedding in New York City with a traditional Brazilian Wedding ceremony.
I must say that the Brazilians really party hard and they party long! Martina and Rafael’s New York City wedding at Chelsea Factory was no exception. When Martina and Rafael first contacted me to photograph their wedding, they said that it was going to one HUGE party. No bells and whistles, no traditional wedding photos, no introductions, no first dances etc…. Just arrive and shoot but it’s going to end really late. Do you want to do it? Being that this was my first Brazilian wedding, I couldn’t turn it down. Martina wasn’t kidding when she said it was going to end late. I had a late start time but I actually stayed until 3am while the party actually lasted until 4am. So here it is. The party of all parties without any bells and whistles, just friends and family having a blast. We did have our Fashion Studio Booth running and somehow my horse head made it’s way out to the dance floor.

The Venue: Chelsea Factory

Chelsea Factory, with its raw architectural beauty and soaring ceilings, set the perfect stage for this unique celebration. The exposed brick walls and vast open space provided a blank canvas for the couple’s vibrant vision. Against this backdrop, warm lighting and lush floral arrangements transformed the venue into an inviting and romantic oasis.

A Reception to Remember

The reception was a feast for the senses. Guests indulged in a menu that paid homage to Brazilian cuisine, featuring favorites like pão de queijo, moqueca, and caipirinhas. The night came alive with music, dancing, and infectious energy—no Brazilian wedding would be complete without New York City Photobooth and a lively dance floor!

Photographing this wedding was an absolute dream. The combination of industrial aesthetics, cultural richness, and the couple’s undeniable love created a dynamic and visually stunning story. Every frame—from the emotional first look to the high-energy party shots—told a tale of passion, joy, and celebration.

The Metropolitan Building Wedding by far has been one of my favorite places to shoot. I’ve shot weddings as well as editorial fashion shoots here and I never tire of coming here. It really is a photographer’s dream to shoot here. When Michelle and Matt contacted me to shoot their wedding and told me that this was their venue, I couldn’t have been more excited.

What makes this building special, is that it was originally an electrical parts factory and was later converted to be used as storage space to accommodate a variety of artisan studios and workrooms. Many of the supplies and furniture from these artists are still in storage throughout this building which provides great setups for shooting in different areas and corners of the building. There are 14-foot ceilings, windows all around, and exposed brick walls. There is a carpentry shop too, which I haven’t even gotten to yet (maybe next time), and a huge inventory of antique props like chairs, lampshades, fabrics, mirrors, wardrobes, chests, trunks, and dressers. I always have a million ideas of cool photoshoots of this place.. yet … just not enough time.

As for Matt and Michelle’s wedding, It was absolutely stunning. The details, the flowers, her gorgeous Marchesa wedding dress, and the color schemes came together beautifully. Congratulations to Michelle and Matt! Enjoy!
