]]>A few weeks ago, I had the great pleasure of shooting Christine and Dan’s wedding in Eastern Long Island. It was at the historic Naugles Barn, built in 1938 on the Hallockville Museum Farm in Riverhead, New York. For those wine lovers out there, Riverhead, New York marks the beginning of Long Island’s Wine country. I met Christine when she was the maid of honor of one of my brides, Crystal, who was married last year in Massapequa, NY at the Riviera. I can’t think of a better way to start off the Fall wedding season than to shoot in a barn, which was a first for me. If you know Christine and Dan you would know how perfect this rustic setting is for them. Their wedding was a mix of casual chic with modern elegance. Christine wore a gorgeous strapless ball gown with layers of white tulle and a black Swarovski beaded belt from the Spring 2010 Romona Keveza couture line at Kleinfeld’s which she paired with a very sexy pair of black satin pumps. Her bridesmaids wore strapless shadow gray cocktail length dresses from Lula Kate’s bridesmaid collection and hot pink satin stilettos that were 4 inches high. Crystal was Christine’s matron of honor, even lending “Bean” (which she affectionately calls her), the stunning cubic zirconia bracelet that she wore on her wedding day. We couldn’t have asked for a better fall wedding day, the sun was out and it was a delicious 70-80 degrees.
One of Christine and Dan’s close friends, Damon officiated the wedding. The wedding ceremony and vows that he wrote for them were quite beautiful and incredibly moving. My hats off to you Damon, you did an awesome job sir!
The following is from Damon’s notes from the wedding, which he was kind enough to share with me. (Prior to authoring his wedding speech, Damon sent Dan and Christine each a questionnaire.)
A little background for those of you that do not know the couple, Damon is the fiancé of Tara, one of Christine’s bridesmaids who introduced Dan to Christine.
When Dan met Christine, he described her as “short, brown wavy hair and cute as heck”, while Christine described Dan as, “the skinniest guy ever”. As their first date continued, Christine remembers Dan talking about his nieces and nephews a lot, even going so far as to show her pictures. She recalls thinking he was really a sweet, kind, and genuine person.
Dan, on the other hand, could not tell if Christine liked him. And even called Tara immediately after, “To see if Christine was into him.”
Just so you know Dan, “She was in to you.”
Damon asked Dan and Christine to describe what they feel when they think about each other…
“For Dan the answer was trust, he trusts Christine completely. For Christine, when she thinks of Dan, she gets “a euphoric tingly feeling.”
It’s so beautiful in its simplicity. To be so loved and so happy, you feel it in your soul, and then to let your guard down to trust another completely.”
Damon also asked, “If you could each fulfill one wish for the other, what would it be?”
“Christine, Dan wants to give you everything you ever wanted.
Dan, Christine wants you to have a happy and fulfilled life. And to encourage you in everything you do. She is your biggest fan.
Dan, you are everything she ever wanted.
And Christine, Dan’s life is happy and fulfilled as long as you are in it.”
I think I have the best job in the world, I am privileged to be there to witness one of the most amazing and meaningful days in two people’s lives. Thanks Dan and Christine for the unforgettable memories! Congratulations to you both!

]]>Johanna and Gerwin’s 3 day wedding festivities started out at the historic Leonstain Schloss Hotel in Pörtschach which is 15 minutes from the Klagenfurt Austrian airport. Pörtschach is a lovely resort town that is located on Lake Wörthersee; a 3 hour drive from Vienna, Austria and in the heart of the Carinthia. The happy couple celebrated with 80 of their closest friends and family members who had flown in from all over the world. The Leonstain Schloss is a charming boutique hotel that was originally a castle built in 1492 and one of the oldest landmarks on Lake Wörthersee. Reportedly this is where the famous composer Johannes Brahms took refuge and wrote his Violin Concerto and 2nd Symphony.
After a long 10 hour flight from New York City, my team and I landed late Thursday morning into the wet but very lush Carinthian countryside of Austria. The weather forecasted a lot of rain with a slim chance of sun so we spent much of the day acclimating ourselves to the 6 hour time change. Johanna and Gerwin booked the gorgeous Johannes Brahms suite for our stay at the Leonstain Schloss which was a lovely surprise. When Friday rolled around, it was still very wet and rainy. Many of the couples’ friends and family were slowly trickling into town. We decided to head into town to scout for a few unique locations for the bridal and engagement photos. Later that afternoon, we met with Johanna and Gerwin for engagement photos on the hotel grounds, the Leonstain beach club, and around Pörtschach.
That evening, the couple had their rehearsal/welcome dinner which was a laid back Carinthian-style barbeque. We feasted on delicious and traditional Austrian fare which included sausages, baked chicken, potatoes, Carinthian dumplings which were lovely doughy pillows of heaven filled with curd cheese and fresh herbs and a very unique dessert bread with an exquisite vanilla sauce.
That was the end of Day 1….. On to Day 2

]]>After a long and stormy night, the skies cleared and the couple awoke to a gorgeous sunny wedding day. In fact, because the weather cleared up so nicely, Johanna and Gerwin were able to have the outdoor wedding they had dreamed of in one of the intimate courtyards on the hotel grounds. Johanna wore a gorgeous Alençon lace and tulle Vera Wang gown which she paired with glittery silver ballet flats. Gerwin wore a beautiful navy suit with an elegant silver tie and black patent leather shoes. The groom’s parents and sister were even dressed in the traditional Austrian wedding attire. (See below.) Following the wedding, we snuck the couple out for a few post-wedding photos while their guests enjoyed the cocktail hour in the main courtyard of the hotel. Johanna and Gerwin celebrated their marriage with a beautiful Austrian banquet at the Restaurant Leon which is known for their gourmet fare made from organic, locally sourced produce and meats. As night fell, the it started raining to top come down again but that did not stop Johanna and Gerwin from dancing the night away with their friends and family in the Leonstain nightclub and bar. We also managed to do a little photo shoot in the rain (last image) which happened to be sooo worth it. They ended the night with a very traditional Viennese Sacher wedding cake and a mouthwatering goulash soup.

]]>Closing Out 2012 and What To Expect in 2013 – Happy New Year!
There’s so much to be grateful for this past year but all good things must come to an end. This post will include some of the memorable events of the past year and a preview of what you may expect during the New Year.
Weddings:
What can I say… The passion still lies deep in capturing one of the happiest moments in people’s lives. This past year’s weddings have brought me to a number of old and new places. San Francisco, New York City, and destination weddings in Maui, Hawaii, The Turks and Caicos and the French Polynesian Islands in Tahiti have all been such wonderful places to photograph. These places have all given me new and bright inspirations. I’ve also witnessed both new and traditional ceremonies this past year like the Egyptian Coptic, Korean, and Hindu Weddings along with multicultural weddings.
Charity and Events:
This year a number of different charities from New York City have asked me to provide event photography for their various fundraisers, balls, and parties. While these charities will always have their press photographers available they reached out to me to provide a fresh point of view in documenting their events. This year, I shot for Autism Speaks, Charity Water, The American Heart Association and The Partnership at Drugfree. Also, for the 3rd straight year, I had the pleasure and honor of shooting events for Victoria’s Secret which is always a fun and fantastic time.
New and Old Friends:
The Supper Club NYC: Always a pleasure shooting their posh events in and around New York City. This year I also helped a new start-up TopSwapClub.com which was founded by three truly amazing ladies, Amanda Salvato, Gabi Rebeschini and Marina Theiss. Make sure to check them out and buy some high-end designer clothes at simply unbelievable prices.
A Look Ahead into 2013:
It will be hard to top 2012, but this year will bring me again to new places.
A destination wedding shoot in Austria and possibly a project in Istanbul, Turkey.
More Wild and crazy weddings!
A NEW website!
Last but not least!
A NEW STUDIO!!! THAT”S RIGHT! A NEW STUDIO is scheduled to open in the Chelsea Area of New York City.
Thank You All for your amazing and loving support. Stay tuned…
