This year’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion was held at the Grand Palais in Paris France. The Angel Class of 2016 included the veteran crew of Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Lily Aldridge and Elsa Hosk to name a few. Notably missing from this crew is Angel Candice Swanepole, Angel Behati Prinsloo and Angel Karlie Kloss due to personal and other work related obligations. Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner return as sophomores. Some first time angels include Irina Shayk, Bella Hadid and Lais Oliviera. Musical performances included Lady Gaga and the return of Bruno Mars and The Weekend. The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show airs on December 5, 2016 on CBS.

Behind the Lens: Photographing the 2013 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show

Photographing the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2013 was an electrifying experience—one filled with dazzling lights, high-energy performances, and, of course, some of the world’s top supermodels. As a photographer, being on the scene of such a globally recognized event was both an adrenaline rush and a creative challenge.

New York City bombshells Adrianna Lima, Cara Delevingne, Behati Prinsloo and Candice Swanepoel worked the runway at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2013. Musical appearances were by Taylor Swift, Fall Out Boy, Neon Jungle and A Great Big World.

This was my 3rd year photographing the VSFS. Again, I came out of this show wondering if would they be able to top the previous years.

The Build-Up: Prepping for the Show

Before stepping onto the photography platform, preparation was key. Unlike weddings, where I capture intimate, unscripted moments, fashion shows run on precision and timing. The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, held at the Lexington Avenue Armory in New York City, was no different. I knew I had to be ready for fast-paced action, split-second expressions, and, most importantly, the grandeur of the production itself.

My gear selection was crucial. I opted for fast lenses and high-speed camera bodies to ensure I could capture every intricate detail—whether it was the sparkle of a Swarovski-studded wing, the confident stride of a model, or the energetic crowd’s reaction.

The Grand Finale

As the finale wrapped up with the models taking their final walk, confetti filled the air, and the crowd erupted in applause. The challenge wasn’t just getting the shots but telling a story through each frame—highlighting the artistry, elegance, and spectacle of the event.

Photographing the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2013 was more than just a job; it was an experience I’ll never forget. From the high-fashion moments to the raw behind-the-scenes emotions, it reminded me why I love what I do—capturing the magic of once-in-a-lifetime events.

Would I do it again? In a heartbeat.
