The minute we met, we hit it off. They loved my work and I loved photographing them. Madison and Matt decided to have their engagement pictures taken at two of my favorite places to shoot in New York.

Chelsea and the Meatpacking District

We started our shoot in Chelsea where I gave them little tips on how to be camera ready, but they really didn’t need any because these two are just great together. Thank you two and I can’t wait to see you both again at the wedding!

The Meatpacking and Chelsea areas have a very urban feel with a lot of greenery which is why I love photographing there.

Photographing engagements in the Meatpacking District is an absolute dream because of its perfect mix of urban charm, industrial grit, and upscale elegance. The cobblestone streets, exposed brick buildings, and trendy storefronts create a visually rich backdrop that feels both modern and timeless.

One of the best parts about shooting here is the variety of textures and lighting opportunities. The area has incredible golden-hour glow reflecting off glass facades and metal accents, giving portraits a warm, cinematic feel. Plus, with spots like the High Line, the Gansevoort Hotel, and chic rooftop bars nearby, there’s no shortage of stylish and romantic settings to capture those intimate moments.

There’s also an undeniable energy in the Meatpacking District—it’s fashionable, vibrant, and effortlessly cool. Whether it’s a couple walking hand in hand through cobblestone alleys or sharing a quiet moment against a backdrop of graffiti and designer boutiques, the district allows for storytelling that feels authentic and dynamic.

It’s the perfect location for couples who want an engagement session with a little edge, a little romance, and a whole lot of NYC character.

Photographing engagements in DUMBO (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass)

The second location was at DUMBO, Brooklyn. DUMBO offers an array of of edgier street art to use as backgrounds.

The combination of cobblestone streets, iconic bridge views, and the East River waterfront creates a cinematic backdrop that feels both romantic and timeless.

One of the biggest draws is the variety of settings within a short walking distance—from the breathtaking Manhattan Bridge shot on Washington Street to the skyline views at Pebble Beach and Jane’s Carousel. Whether I’m capturing a couple sharing an intimate moment by the water or silhouetted against the city lights at sunset, DUMBO offers an incredible mix of urban charm and natural beauty.

I also love how the area’s historic architecture, industrial textures, and soft golden-hour light add depth to engagement photos. Every session here feels unique because the lighting, atmosphere, and energy of the neighborhood constantly evolve.
