A Breathtaking Engagement Photo Session in the San Francisco Bay Area

As a destination wedding and engagement photographer, I have had the privilege of capturing love stories in some of the most stunning locations around the world. Recently, I had the opportunity to fly into the San Francisco Bay Area to photograph a magical engagement session that seamlessly blended the beauty of nature with the iconic cityscape. Our journey began at sunset at the serene Sonoma Botanical Garden and ended with a captivating nighttime shoot along the vibrant Embarcadero in San Francisco.

Golden Hour Romance at Sonoma Botanical Garden

Nestled in the rolling hills of Sonoma County, the Sonoma Botanical Garden provided the perfect backdrop to start this engagement session. As the sun began its descent, the golden hues of the setting sun bathed the lush landscapes in a warm glow. The couple, elegantly dressed, walked hand in hand through winding garden paths, surrounded by towering trees and vibrant floral displays.

The peaceful ambiance of the garden allowed us to capture intimate moments—soft whispers, stolen glances, and genuine laughter. Against the rich foliage and the golden light filtering through the leaves, every frame exuded warmth and romance. The reflections in the tranquil pond, the textures of the winding trails, and the bursts of color from the seasonal blooms all played a part in creating timeless images that perfectly encapsulated their love story.

A Nighttime Love Story at the Embarcadero

As dusk settled, we made our way to San Francisco’s Embarcadero, where the city’s glittering lights set the stage for an entirely different mood. The contrast between the natural elegance of Sonoma and the urban vibrance of the Embarcadero made for an unforgettable engagement session.

Against the backdrop of the illuminated Bay Bridge, we captured silhouettes that embodied the essence of their love—bold, adventurous, and deeply connected. The reflections of the city lights on the water added an extra layer of magic, enhancing the romantic atmosphere. We strolled through the lively Ferry Building area, using the ambient streetlights to create moody and cinematic portraits. The energy of the city, combined with the couple’s chemistry, resulted in a collection of images that felt dynamic yet intimate.

A Fall Engagement Photoshoot in Chantilly Virginia by Top Virginia Engagement and Wedding Photographer Josh Wong Photography

This past fall I had the opportunity to head down to Sunset Crest Manor in Chantilly, Virginia for an engagement photo shoot with Becky and Phillip. While there are so many amazing local photographers in the area I was completely honored when they wanted me to come down to Virginia and inject a little of my edgy New York style into their photos. What I didn’t realize was how beautiful this place was during the sunset hours. Because of the fallen leaves and the golden sun beaming through the bare branches, it provided a kind light that most photographers dream of. As a result,  I ended up shooting mostly with natural light, going back to the days as a natural light photographer.

So how did I bring the edginess into this photo shoot? Well… A Ducati and a red flowing dress was all I needed. Enjoy! See you two at the wedding! I can’t wait!

Amanda and Eric Engagement Pictures and Montage
Washington DC: The Lincoln Memorial, The Washington Monument, The Mall and the Capitol Building

My trip to the nation’s capital was nothing short of amazing. My beautiful couple, Amanda and Eric, who live in the area, wanted to have their engagement photos taken by the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument, and the Capitol Building. These iconic buildings are what define this great city. Even though I have been to Washington D.C. many times, I am always in awe of the beauty of these structures especially when they are lit up at night.

Our initial goal was to also try to capture the Cherry Blossoms in full bloom by the Tidal Basin but unfortunately we were probably about a week and a half too early. But other than that, this place is quite breathtaking. As for Amanda and Eric, they are such a fun and loving couple. I can’t wait to see them again for their wedding later this year! Oh, and my couples are the best! Somehow Amanda and Eric knew I would love the Red Velvet and Cherry Blossom cupcakes from Georgetown Cupcakes! Thank You! I enjoyed them very much!
