Nina and Bryan are one of the most down to earth couples I’ve met. So fun-loving, caring, and playful. A trait that I must say must have been passed down from their parents as their parents are wonderfully adorable. I was so honored to be part of such a fantastic family. A Magical Proposal at Rockefeller Ice Rink: Love, Cheers, and “Moves Like Jagger”

New York City is always buzzing with energy during the holiday season, but few places capture the magic quite like the Rockefeller Center Ice Rink. This past December, I had the honor of photographing an unforgettable proposal at this iconic location—complete with twinkling lights, a cheering crowd, and the unexpected but fitting soundtrack of “Moves Like Jagger” playing in the background.

A Surprise on the Ice

The couple took to the ice for what seemed like a casual skating session, gliding under the glow of the towering Christmas tree. Little did she know, her partner had planned something extraordinary. As the familiar beat of “Moves Like Jagger” filled the air, he took her by the hand, skated to the center, and dropped to one knee. The rink fell into a hush for a split second before erupting into cheers as she gasped, covering her face in shock and joy.

With the city skyline as their witness and the rink’s onlookers cheering them on, she said yes! It was a moment of pure magic, frozen in time—literally and figuratively.

Capturing the Joy

After the proposal, we took a short walk around Rockefeller Plaza for an impromptu engagement session. The glow of the holiday lights provided the perfect romantic backdrop. We captured a mix of candid laughter, warm embraces, and classic NYC moments—against the decorated windows of Saks Fifth Avenue, under the sparkling angels lining the Channel Gardens, and even with a few twirls on Fifth Avenue.

The excitement of the moment was palpable in every frame. The couple’s energy was infectious, and their love story was made even more special by the thousands of strangers who had witnessed and celebrated with them.

New York City is a city of dreams, and for this couple, the Dream Hotel in the heart of the Meatpacking District was the perfect backdrop for the start of their wedding day. With its chic, modern interiors, dramatic lighting, and an unmistakable energy that pulses through its walls, this boutique hotel set the stage for a morning filled with anticipation, excitement, and timeless moments.

The suite buzzed with the soft hum of champagne toasts, the laughter of bridesmaids, and the delicate touch of the makeup artist’s brush. Natural light poured through the floor-to-ceiling windows, illuminating the bride as she slipped into her gown—a breathtaking masterpiece of silk and lace that mirrored the elegance of the city skyline just beyond the glass.

With a final spritz of perfume and a deep breath, she stepped into the moment. Her reflection in the oversized mirror captured more than just beauty—it held the emotions of a woman on the cusp of forever.

Just a few floors away, the groom and his groomsmen embraced a different kind of energy. In a sleek, moody suite with exposed brick and contemporary furnishings, he buttoned his cufflinks and adjusted his bow tie, exuding effortless sophistication. A toast of whiskey with his closest friends set the tone—a perfect balance of excitement and composure before the biggest moment of his life.

A Wedding Dripping in Elegance

The bride exuded timeless glamour in a beaded, art-deco-inspired gown, complete with a bird-cage veil and a delicate feathered headpiece. The groom looked equally dashing in a classic black tuxedo with vintage-inspired accents. The bridal party perfectly complemented the theme, with bridesmaids donning shimmering gold and champagne dresses reminiscent of the era, and groomsmen in sleek, old-Hollywood suits.

Capturing the Magic at Tribeca 360 Wedding

Photographing this wedding felt like stepping onto the set of a classic film. The first look was breathtaking, set against the skyline of Lower Manhattan. The couple’s portraits, taken in the golden glow of sunset, evoked the romance and sophistication of the 1920s. During the reception, the dance floor came alive with the sounds of a live jazz band, and guests sipped on signature Prohibition-era cocktails as they danced the night away.

As the night drew to a close, the newlyweds made a dazzling exit through a tunnel of sparklers, stepping into a vintage getaway car that felt straight out of The Great Gatsby itself. Our journey began at sunset at the serene Sonoma Botanical Garden and ended with a captivating nighttime shoot along the vibrant Embarcadero in San Francisco.

Golden Hour Romance at Sonoma Botanical Garden

Nestled in the rolling hills of Sonoma County, the Sonoma Botanical Garden provided the perfect backdrop to start this engagement session. As the sun began its descent, the golden hues of the setting sun bathed the lush landscapes in a warm glow. The couple, elegantly dressed, walked hand in hand through winding garden paths, surrounded by towering trees and vibrant floral displays.

The peaceful ambiance of the garden allowed us to capture intimate moments—soft whispers, stolen glances, and genuine laughter. Hawaii is a photographer’s dream—a place where natural beauty, vibrant culture, and serene landscapes come together to create unforgettable moments. Recently, I had the incredible opportunity to photograph a destination wedding at Ka’ala Vista in Waialua, Hawaii. This stunning venue, nestled on the North Shore of Oahu, was the perfect backdrop for a celebration of love.

The Venue: Ka’ala Vista

Ka’ala Vista is a hidden gem. Perched high up on a hill, it offers panoramic views of the Waialua countryside, with lush greenery, distant mountains, and a gentle breeze from the Pacific Ocean. The venue has a relaxed, intimate feel while still being grand enough for a wedding.

The couple I worked with wanted a ceremony that reflected the natural beauty of Hawaii, and Ka’ala Vista delivered. The setting sun cast a golden glow over the ceremony space, where the couple exchanged vows beneath a simple but elegant bamboo arch adorned with tropical flowers. The lush surroundings and the stunning view of the North Shore in the background made for incredibly cinematic photos.

One of the highlights was capturing the post-ceremony moments. As the newlyweds strolled through the venue’s gardens, hand in hand, the light was soft and golden, giving the whole scene a dreamy, ethereal feel. These are the kinds of moments where Hawaii’s magic truly comes alive in photographs.

The Wedding Details

Hawaiian weddings are known for their rich culture and tradition, and this wedding was no exception. The couple incorporated traditional Hawaiian elements, such as the exchange of leis and a Hawaiian blessing during the ceremony. These touches made the day even more special and personal. Every detail was thoughtfully planned, and as a photographer, that’s always a dream to capture.
